Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS15 Review

Panasonic's Lumix DMC-ZS15 is a powerful yet compact digicam designed for those who are looking for higher quality images without carrying a full-sized camera. Sporting a 12.1-Megapixel High Sensitivity MOS imaging sensor, it actually has less resolution with the same sized sensor as last year's Lumix ZS10. This allows for better low-light performance, and faster processing thanks to the Venus Engine. The camera also features a 16x Leica DC optical zoom lens, 3.0-inch 460,000 dot LCD screen, Full 1080p HD video capture with Dolby Digital Sound, 3D image capture and an in-camera HDR mode for tricky lighting situations.

Panasonic's iAuto shooting mode is also included and incorporates the HDR shooting mode as another way to make sure you get the best image possible with the camera set to iAuto... Continue Reading

As we've seen suggested in results from previous surveys, Smart Phones are becoming the main camera of choice by many people. An earlier story we posted mentioned how Apple's iPhone 4 was the most popular camera in the Flickr Community. A new study by a Mintel in the U.K. indicates that more consumers may be relying on their Smart Phones instead of compact Digital Cameras for both still photos and video capture.

Canon Product Advisory for EOS Rebel T4i Rubber Grip Problem

Canon has issued a Product Advisory for the EOS Rebel T4i (aka the EOS 650D or T6i in some markets), outlining a problem where customers may see the front rubber grips turn white after a short period of time.

This problem is isolated to a small number of units that were manufactured between May 31 and June 15, 2012, where Canon determined the cause is a chemical reaction due to a higher than normal amount of a rubber accelerator being used, which can result in a chemical reaction where Zinc bis (N,N'-dimethyldithiocarbamate) becomes deposited on the rubber grip surface... Pentax Ranks Highest in J.D. Power and Associates DSLR Buyer Satisfaction Report

According to the 2012 DSLR Online Buyer Report from J.D. Power and Associates, Pentax ranks highest in Online Buyer Satisfaction, with a rating of 899 on a 1,000 point scale; performing particularly well in durability and reliability, variety of features, ease of operation, and shutter speed/lag time.

This report also notes that "Pentax's customer base has shifted since 2011 from casual photographers to those who consider themselves semiprofessional or professional photographers".
