More resolution or better noise control?
Both Nikon and Canon recently released new generations of their popular full-framers. We pulled both of them into our test lab to find out just how well they stack up against one another. The results my surprise you.

Cooking in Raw

Q. I recall reading in your magazine some time ago that a JPEG image can be processed using Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), but I have yet to see instructions on how to process a JPEG image in ACR in Adobe Photoshop Elements. Could you let readers know exactly how this can be done?

A. In Elements 10, once you highlight an image you want to open, make sure the drop-down Format menu is set to Camera Raw. Then hit Open, and it should drag your JPEG file into the ACR interface. The adjustments available to you will, of course, not be as high quality as those available for a RAW file, but if you like using the ACR interface (as we do, a lot), it’s a great way to tweak JPEG files. By the way, if you have a current or recent version of the full Adobe Photoshop, you can edit a JPEG in ACR by right-clicking on it in Bridge, and choosing Open in Camera Raw.
