Q. What is Moiré?
A. The french word for a type of fabric. When moved, moiré cloth produces a wavy or rippled effect due to unevenly spaced threading. In imaging, it often appears when photographing monitors or scanning halftone images. In conventional digital photography, moiré occurs when photographing a grid or linear subject with line spacing that's denser than that of the sensor's pixel array. Three ways to get rid of it are switching to a camera with a higher-resolving sensor, introducing a stronger anti-aliasing filter, or using software in post.
