Photo Glossary: Power Aperture


First introduced with the Nikon D800, Power Aperture is explained by Nikon as video-related camera function that adjusts the aperture of an attached Nikkor in 1/8 stops instead of the usual 1/3 stop intervals. The advantage is a smoother transition between apertures in videos made in changing light. The Power Aperture works when recording to an external HDMI device, but not with in-camera recordings.
