Monitor Calibration
Q. I am a non-pro photo enthusiast who wants good-looking prints. In the Datacolor Spyder4 monitor calibration system, which version, Express, Pro, or Elite, will be the best investment for top image quality?
A. All three Spyder4 calibration kits use the same hardware; the primary difference is in the included software. You won’t need the Elite model ($250, street), which has high-end features more suitable for a pro. The Pro version ($170) allows profiling more than one display, so if you have multiple monitors, you’ll need it. It measures ambient light, useful if the lighting of your workspace changes. Otherwise, the $120 Express will serve your needs just fine.
