Scanner Planner
Q. I am looking to buy a good quality flatbed scanner for color and black-and-white photographs. What specification should I be looking for?
A. We would look for scanners with a minimum resolution of 4800x9600 dpi for flat materials, and with the ability to scan 35mm slides and negatives. Be sure to get one that can scan an area as large as the biggest prints you may scan—many models are limited to letter- or legal-size paper. If you have quite a lot of photos to scan, scanning speeds should be a concern. Finally, we’d stick to models from one of the scanner biggies: Canon, Epson, or HP.
