Question:
How does one emulate the effect of using a red (25A) filter with black-and-white film using a digital camera—without a lot of computer work?
From: Hugh Cornell
Guilford, England

Answer:
Easy: Set the camera to b&w capture and attach a red filter (or hold it in front of the lens). The image tones will be similar to those of film capture, notably the dramatic darkened blue skies. Some DSLRs even make the physical filter unecessary. But you still have much greater control over the effect if you do it int he software later, and it doesn't take a lot of work.
