This DSLR is operating at its height and takes the trophy for 2014’s Camera of the Year
Ansel Adams said that “somewhere along the line the manipulative freedom of the photographer must be arrested by the inescapable limitations of the medium.” Among our great joys at Popular Photography is seeing those limitations begin to fall away as new cameras make it easier to capture ever-better images. With this in mind, we name the Nikon D750 2014’s Camera of the Year.

Ring Light: This lighting modifier is literally a circle of light that surrounds the front of the camera lens. These are often found as stand alone flash units, or you can also opt for one of the popular adapters used to fit small speed lights. Macro photographers also sometimes use ring lights to provide even illumination on their tiny subjects.
Key tips for adjusting your approach to make the most of natural light
It is often said that light is the lifeblood of photography. What exactly does that mean? Aside from the obvious fact that without illumination there would be no image, the quality and characteristics of light greatly determine the visual impact that a photograph will have with a viewer. Light, for better or worse, can turn an expertly composed scene into something bland and boring—or transform the ordinary into the extraordinary and magical.

Reflective Umbrella: Reflective umbrellas offer certain distinct advantages over shoot through umbrellas, especially when you want more more control over your light. They’re called reflective umbrellas because the interior is opaque and reflective and the point typically faces away from your subject.
The newest entry to Nikon's dSLR lineup is the powerful D750. Sporting a 24.3-Megapixel FX-format CMOS imaging sensor, EXPEED 4 image processor, 51-area AF system with 15 cross-type sensors and a 3D Color Matrix Metering III sensor with a 91,000-pixels, Tilting 3.2-inch LCD, built-in WiFi and the same video capabilities as the D810; this is an incredibly powerful camera in a smaller, more compact body than most full-frame dSLRs. Along with these amazing components, the camera also features a slew of automatic and creative features that allow anyone to pick up and shoot with this camera. From full automatic shooting to some great camera effects modes, there are plenty of creative modes for images, even if you are not sure how to create them on your own. For the more advanced users that this camera is really designed for, the camera will do everything you can imagine, and it will do it well. The camera is available body-only or in a kit with the 24-120mm VR zoom lens. Two great features that are just making their way to these higher end dSLR models are a very welcome on the D750. First Nikon has finally built-in the WiFi feature, no more attachments necessary to share your images with the world. As long as you have a smartphone or tablet with cellular service, you can connect the camera and instantly share your images (so long as you have a good cell signal). The WiFi connection also allows you to view and copy the images from the camera to your phone. Once connected your phone can also be used as... Continue Reading

"Many nice photos have to do with being at the right place at the right time. This is one of them. The female Mallard was resting on a log by a small lake when I spotted it. As I was taking photos of her she would fluff out her feathers revealing colors I never knew existed on this bird. "
